こんにちは、あーちゃんこと平田彩恵です☆
現在、私はNPO法人フローレンスでインターン生として勉強させていただいています。
担当は、主にソーシャルプロモーションと呼ばれる広報です。

フローレンスで発行していメールマガジンで、フローレンスを知っている人にソーシャルベンチャーとはどんなものなのかを知ってもらいたい！という思いから「ソーシャルベンチャーの現場から」というコラムを掲載させていただいていますので、そのコラムを、私の活動の一環として井上研究会のホームページでもご紹介します。

インターン生平田による、ソーシャルベンチャーレポート。
大学での学びを活かして、ソーシャルベンチャーとしてのフローレンスについて、ご説明できたらと思います。

そもそも、フローレンスはソーシャルベンチャーだ、とか、駒崎は社会起業家だ、と世間で言われていますが、　とはいえ、それって一体何？？と思われる方も　少なくないと思います。

でも、社会起業家って、最近よく耳にするし、ちょっと興味はあるかも…という方のために！インターン生平田が、ソーシャルベンチャーの実務の現場から、みなさまに旬な社会起業情報をお届けしてまいります。

記念すべき第0回目は、プログラムのご紹介と、社会起業家とは何か、ということについて簡単に触れたと思います。

社会起業とは、間単に言ってしまえば、【事業によって社会問題を解決しようとすること】です。例えば、フローレンスであれば病児保育という問題を、【非施設共済型】という新しいモデルによって解決に導こうとしています。

フローレンスはNPOとして活動していますが、社会起業には、NPOとしてアプローチする人々もいれば、株式会社として取り組む人、あるいは、個人で活動している人もいます。

社会起業とは、よりよい社会を作ろうという、意気込みを持った個人の想いから始まっていることだけは確かなことでしょう。

次号以降では、以下のようなトピックを取り上げていく予定です。

To start with, before we found our ‘perfect match’ of a distributor, we focused just on the more sophisticated territories of California and the East Coast, plus Colorado. (Lots of organic chocolate-lovers in Colorado, we found.) Gradually, over the years (and with no little thanks to Wholefoods), we ‘joined up the dots’ until we covered the whole country. But of course, you have to build the additional margin of a distributor’s costs into your pricing… Which may make you uncompetitive… Nobody said this was going to be a breeze.

Until the layoffs are 0 and the US starts adding 150,000 or more jobs this is not good news. Unemployment is going down because people are running out of unemployment and the states no longer count them. Most of these people will not work again. Homeless is up, people living on the street is up, people living with their parents or kids or friends is up. How is this good.
